Peter Quinn, Salumeria, Fondamenta S Anna, Venice, watercolour on paper, 59x50 cm

Gallagher & Turner are proud to present an exhibition of watercolour paintings capturing the colour and character of street life, by Royal Watercolour Society and Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour artist, Peter Quinn.

Quinn is an artist who seeks subject matter in the everyday. Through confident draughtsmanship and bright, gem-like colour, he captures the spirit of place. This exhibition of new work takes us on a journey through colourful Venetian waterways, to the cafes, ice cream vans and tabaks around Europe, then back closer-to-home, to Seahouses Harbour.

As much as formal shapes and arrangements of colour and shade, Quinn delights in architectural detailing and mismatch, plant pots, cigarette dispensers, washing lines and passers-by.

Peter graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1986, and now lives in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Peter has a doctorate from the University of Sunderland, has written on the art of the North East of England and is the current Chair of the Bewick Society. Quinn is a member of the Royal Watercolour Society, with whom he has shown at the Bankside Gallery since 1999, when he was an award winner; and in 1995 won the Armour Award for an outstanding watercolour at the Royal Glasgow Institute. This year Quinn has been invited join the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour. He exhibits in Newcastle, Glasgow, Malta and London.

All works are available for sale and available to take away.
