Rae’s paintings are full of feelings about what surrounds her. Semi-abstract oils capture eye-catching scenes through shape, pattern, line, texture, and colour. With a sense of nostalgia her focus is eliciting joy from everyday sights, particularly places we inhabit, spaces where people unwind and flowers due to the strong associations with wonderment and a sense of wellbeing. Having been an interior designer conveying mood is critical to Rae and an earlier career with diverse communities brings a core working principle of making paintings accessible to everyone.
A Saltburn Studios & Gallery studio-holder since 2018 Rae has participated in 40+ group plus 3 solo shows, primarily across the North East and Yorkshire. She has exhibited in Staithes Gallery since September 2023 and was a stable artist at Seagull Gallery, Filey 2019-2020. Key achievements include being shortlisted, North York Moors National Park Art Award 2022 and longlisted, Women In Art Painter Prize UK 2022. Full CV available.
