On the moor there are solitary trees surrounded by fencing to protect them from the cows. As the leaves fall in the autumn, it seems that the trees are making their escape from their confinement.
Artist Statement:
I am a printmaker living in Newcastle upon Tyne.
I specialise in woodcut, although in the past I have created prints using etching, drypoint and lithography.
I studied Fine Art at Newcastle University in the 1980's where I developed an interest in printmaking, and I became a member of Charlotte Press in Newcastle in the late 1980's. I have been printmaking for the last 30 years or so though not continuously, time raising children meant that printmaking took a back seat for some years. For the last 12 years I have been a member of Northern Print where I occasionally print and teach woodcut. My studio is in my home, and I have recently bought an Albion Press which has enabled me to continue printing - my previous tool being a wooden spoon and elbow grease.
