Poster collection of Paul Lipschutz made for an exhibition in the museum: Musee de la Publicite in 1984 by artist Einar Nerman
Einar Nerman (1888-1983) was very productive during his long life. He studied art in Stockholm and later also worked and lived in Paris, London and New York. He painted, designed costumes and sets for ballet, and he illustrated magazines and books.
He had a natural talent for bringing visuals to music and he continued to produce this type of work well into the 1930’s. As an artist, Nerman was influenced by a number of different people including the English painter William Nicholson (1872–1949) and the Swedish painter Ivar Arosenius (1878–1909). He also loved Japanese woodblock prints and the drawings of Aubrey Beardsley (1872–1898)
